Welcome

Salut! Merci beaucoup!

Small clarification

For the others: Smrman has helped me translate some stuff into french (on the Scratch website) so I invited him to join the Wiki already. I am sure he will be a great help! I just told him that we haven't started yet but that he can already get informed about MediaWiki and how Wikis work.

LiFaytheGoblin (talk) 13:50, 5 November 2015 (MET)

Great! Bienvenu Smrman! I'm happy that you are interested to join the international scratch wiki idea and I'm sure that everybody here will help you as much as possible, to start a french scratch wiki.
Mtwoll (talk) 14:01, 5 November 2015 (MET)
I don't understand, is he helping set up or is he just getting in early?
U W N (talk) 16:12, 5 November 2015 (MET)
@UWN: just getting in early, I think looking at his userpage. And I'm happy about that because we need somebody to find out how it works :-)
Mtwoll (talk) 12:06, 6 November 2015 (MET)
@Smrman:
 1. I like your userpage #user:Smrman because it's so plain an international. :-)
 2. I saw at your userpage that you are also speaking Netherlands.
Mtwoll (talk) 12:09, 6 November 2015 (MET)

Dutch Wiki

Could you also help Joek van Montfort (user xota see) and his guys from Netherlands to start their NL-WIki? We set up the NL:wiki before we had the (better) idea about this test-wiki, but they urgently need help to start up their NL-scratch-wiki-community so everybody speaking Dutch would be welcome. If you want, I cant create an account there for you, even if their automatic accounting system isn't set up.(http://nl.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Hoofdpagina )

 1. Joren (JSO) Lauwers (see)is another great young Scratcher from Belgium who now studies at MIT. He was the one who set up the EN:wiki years ago. Do you know him?
 2. We have still some technical decisions to be made here see: S:CP#Decisions to be made about Namespaces but I think you could start with french inside the Namespace "far:" and if that will change later we will have to shift the articles, what will be no big problem. So you could start the french scratch wiki at some point like Fra:Scratch_Wiki_Home (don't know a french title for that. In Germany we use de:Hauptseite in NL they use nl:Hoofdpagina). Wikipedia france calls its Mainpage https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Accueil_principal . What do you think?

Commonication page

I saw that you reformatted the communication at your talk page. I would suggest that you use the standard thread style that is used at most Mediawikis (with some minor differences): A new Thread starts with a Header (like this, just write == My new thread Header ==). Every person who gets new to the thread uses a certain number of ":::" in front of their post and stays with this number. The number of ":::" increases with every new person taking part in the thread starting with 0 for the first person that started the post. You end every post with Smrman (talk) 22:49, 6 November 2015 (MET) so your signatur and date is filled in automatically.

Example if I would be the second person in that post Mtwoll (talk) 20:09, 6 November 2015 (MET) Example 3. Person Mtwoll (talk) 20:09, 6 November 2015 (MET) Example 2. person Mtwoll (talk) 20:09, 6 November 2015 (MET) Alright?

You can see (and get back) to the whole edit history of your reformatting process here http://test.scratch-wiki.info/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Smrman&action=history But I would not reconvert it. You can archive old talk-page threads if your talk-page gets to long e.G. at User talk:Smrman/archive1, User talk:Smrman/archive2 and so on. You can also build you an own sandbox for testing mediawiksyntax by this method like User talk:Smrman/my_sandbox

Links

Salut!

LiFaytheGoblin (talk) 12:36, 8 November 2015 (MET)

Smrman (talk) 13:35, 8 November 2015 (MET)
LiFaytheGoblin (talk) 15:13, 8 November 2015 (MET)
LiFaytheGoblin (talk) 15:16, 8 November 2015 (MET)
Smrman (talk) 19:50, 8 November 2015 (MET)
1) Oui, exactement.
LiFaytheGoblin (talk) 20:05, 8 November 2015 (MET)
OK merci.
Smrman (talk) 21:00, 8 November 2015 (MET)
LiFaytheGoblin (talk) 21:59, 8 November 2015 (MET)

French Question

I saw that User_talk:Lederniersamourai didn't get an answer, but I don't speak French

Mtwoll (talk) 14:32, 20 November 2015 (MET)

Sorry for the late answer... i have sometime some problems to save the new page with the responses. I answered you on LyFaythegobelin's profile :)
Smrman (talk) 12:12, 21 November 2015 (MET)
ok, hope he will answer.
Mtwoll (talk) 07:59, 23 November 2015 (MET)

Interwiki

I added Interwiki-Links to Fra:Scratch_Wiki_Accueil to show you how to do it: You could use that at every article to inter-language connect it to articles at other wikis. en:Name of the article cant't be seen in the text but results in a link at the left menu bar (naturally only if that interwiki-prefix is configured at Special:Interwiki)). Writing :en:Name of the article results in a a link to that article directly in the text.

Mtwoll (talk) 07:58, 23 November 2015 (MET)

Thanks a lot. I'm not sure i'll use the interwiki links now (later anyway) because it seems me a bit difficult. I'm going to check that later (lot of work even there is not shcool today and tomorrow on Belguim ^^).

Welcoming projects

Salut!

LiFaytheGoblin (talk) 22:05, 9 January 2016 (MET)

Smrman (talk) 08:52, 10 January 2016 (MET)
Smrman (talk) 21:16, 11 January 2016 (MET)
Super!

Translate-Link-Bar

Hello Smrman,

I tried to connect the pages you made with our new "Translate-Link-Bar" but I think I made many errors because I don't spek french. Can you teach yourself how our "Translate-Link-Bar" works and connect the french pages in the right way? It's not only important to get an overview which pages are already translated in which languages, but also it will be the later base for Interwiki between all international Scratch-Wikis: We collect the realations between the difefferent translstions at the sub-page "translate" of the english version and make a linke-bar at every translated version by putting at the top of any translated article. Example:

En:Help:Contents De:Scratch-Wiki:Hilfe:Inhaltsverzeichnis Id:Bantuan:Isi Nl:Help:Inhoud Ru:Справка:Содержание Thank you in advance! Mtwoll (talk) 07:48, 18 May 2016 (MET)

Hi Mtwoll,
I'll check the translation bar.
But i'm not sur i'll have the time to do everything (check each page).
Otherwise i'll make a public text file on GitHub/make a new page in my Wiki with all the translations.
Smrman (talk) Smrman's logo.gif 18:35, 19 May 2016 (MEST)

Thanks in advance! I ment only translte-links at the few existing pages, not at all that will be there in the future. :) Mtwoll (talk) 17:29, 20 May 2016 (MEST)

Sure!
I think i'll begin to check the pages this evenight.
Normally, it will be done for tomorrow of for this weekend.
Smrman (talk) Smrman's logo.gif 17:36, 20 May 2016 (MEST)
Mhhh, in fact, I still have a question...
What's the reference for the translation? The English Wiki?
For example, i have a page called "Se connecter" link and in English, it's "Registering" link. For the translation, must I put or :English Scratcher/translate or something else? ^^
Thanks

<ref> tag

Bonjour,

Smrman (talk) Smrman's logo.gif 16:12, 21 September 2016 (MEST)
Smrman (talk) Smrman's logo.gif 20:58, 22 September 2016 (MEST)

Smrman (talk) Smrman's logo.gif 21:09, 22 September 2016 (MEST)
Ok. Merci.
XDe6og (talk) 18:32, 26 September 2016 (MEST)

Plan du site

Bonjour Smrman,
XDe6og (talk) 09:51, 29 September 2016 (MEST)

Bon bah je me réponds moi-même. :-)

Hindi wiki mess up

Hi, As an editor of hindi wiki I observed that you messed it up. I do not know if you know hindi but please do not mess it up and add delete template to all. They were redirects and info i had translated. Hindi wiki does not have much editors so you can help by translating but please do not mess it up. I do not know french so please try to understand Thank you Purvitekriwal (talk) 04:35, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

Hello and thank you for your message. I understand you got concerned about my edits regarding some pages in the Hindi part of the wiki. I did not mean to mess up your wiki in any way. I was trying to keep the wiki organized, by moving some pages around (more explanations later on). I admit I probably should have warned/told you before doing this, which is totally my fault, and I apologize about that.
As a former Test Wiki author and "official" Scratch Wiki admin myself, I totally understand that feeling when someone makes an edit you consider counterproductive. Let me explain my though process.
As a member of the Test Wiki, you probably know that this wiki is divided into multiple namespaces. (Two per language, one three letter long for the pages in that language, the other one for the associated talk pages, a "main" namespace for "general" pages, and the other ones that are needed for the wiki to work properly).
For example, the wiki in Hindi is located in the "Hin:" namespace. The French-speaking wiki was once located in the "Fra:" namespace, etc. This has been designed in a way to help the wiki stay organized, all pages in a language in the same place.
Now, the pages that I edited were in the main namespace, the one that is supposed to be "neutral", not meant for writing articles in a foreign language. This is not a very big deal, this sometimes happens. Some authors might forget about being in the right namespace when creating a new page. This is also the reason why the wiki admins patrol the wiki from time to time, to point out those issues, fix them and teach the authors the good practices when creating a wiki. See it by yourself, all the pages in Hindi at the bottom of the list shouldn't be there. They should be in the right namespace.
T.L.D.R.: It’s best to keep all pages in Hindi in the "Hin:" namespace, and those pages weren’t.
Also, I saw all those pages had redirects to actual pages in the right namespace. This led me to believe that those pages weren't necessary, and could be deleted, and that the links pointing to them could be fixed. I didn't understand what those redirects meant and what they were about, since I don't speak not understand any Hindi at all. I just knew that they were in the wrong namespace, had to be moved and that the links could be "resolved".
That is why I changed some links in some pages in the Hindi namespace and marked the pages in the global namespace as not needed anymore.
I see you reverted those changes, but this doesn't solve the underlying problem. Those pages are still in the wrong namespace, so you'd ideally need to move them to the "Hin:" namespace, or delete them. I'll let handle this, since I did my best moving those pages and apprently failed at it ^^'. Smrman (talk) Smrman's logo.gif 18:21, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
You can move the pages I do not have any problem but please do not change names, I made them as shortcuts so people do not have to type such big names in hindi as in this language there are many big words so can you move shortcuts to correct namespaces then?? as you have changed all shortcuts too
